About the alley
A small collective of independent artists, each with their own front door.
Magic Alley exists so independent makers can sell their work without disappearing into someone else's brand. It is a platform for independent studios first, with an optional curated press for special editions — human-scale and built around the person who made the work.
The idea
A curated, artist-first collective
Magic Alley is not a marketplace with a house style stamped over everyone. It is a small collective of independent artists and makers, chosen one at a time, who each keep their own front door. We handle the alley: the paving, the signage, the till. The work, the words and the prices stay with the maker.
Your space
Independent artist spaces
Every artist gets a space that is theirs — portfolio first, shop second, with their own ink colors, wall text and studio story. Nothing is flattened into an anonymous catalogue. Wherever a piece appears on this site, the artist's name travels with it and links straight back to their door.
Wandering
Discovery across the whole alley
People rarely arrive knowing whose studio they want. Discover Art & Goods lets anyone browse by type, by artwork, by artist or through a mixed feed of what is newest on the racks — and every card still carries the maker's name, so cross-artist browsing never turns into an anonymous grid.
Making things
Your studio stays yours
By default, artists keep their stock in their own studios and send each order directly. There is no inventory hand-off, minimum run or logistical obstacle to joining — the artist keeps the workflow that already suits their practice.
The press
Magic Alley Editions
Our optional press and incubator collaborates with selected artists on special releases: limited-run art prints, batch apparel and occasional collective goods. Those agreed releases are produced and fulfilled from Magic Alley Central, and clearly marked wherever they appear. Joining the collective never depends on taking part.
Getting in
Curated applications, read by hand
Intake happens a couple of times a year and every application is read by a person, not a filter. No fees, no exclusivity, no minimum output. What matters is that you make the work yourself, you can say why, and you are happy to have your name loudly attached to everything you sell.
Portfolio policy
Human-made work only
Everything shown in an artist's portfolio must be made by that artist. We do not accept AI-generated images, AI-composed designs, or work traced or assembled from generative output. Hand tools, presses, cameras, scanners and digital drawing are all fine — a model inventing the image is not. If we find AI work in a space, the space closes.
Prototype note · the plates shown across this site are procedurally drawn placeholders standing in for real photographed work.
